Sensory Cooking Group Classes
Small Social Cooking Groups - We have started 5 small social groups. Participants get 3 classes to come together as a group at no charge. After that, options include paid classes or using the website www.sensorycooking.net to provide the groups with recipes and videos that include both language and sensory goals. If you want to start with a Small Social Cooking Group please take a look at our Upcoming Classes and fill out the questionnaire. We are working to create more groups.
If you have already done that, we have reached out to you with a second form. This allows us to connect small groups together in an email chain so we can work on times and days that work for all. This seems to be where we have not heard back from several of you, if you did respond and have not heard from us, please email Katie at info@sensorycooking.net The groups seem to be going very well over all, a few kiddos have had challenges but we are working with them individually. We have made pot stickers, frosted cupcakes, french toast, quesadillas, homemade ice cream with waffle cones and we have plans for sliders with handmade buns, mexican rice, charcuterie boards and much more.
Family Classes - We would love to create a great cooking opportunity for your family. The options are almost unlimited! Doing really fun family things can be a bit of a challenge if you have a child with autism but we would like to craft a class for you that can be great for the whole family. We have an amazing offer! $99 for the first 5 people to contact Katie and pay for a family cooking class will receive the class (2-3 hours, up to 5 people, menus designed for your family). There will be food cost limitations, but we will be sure to find some things your family will enjoy. Classes will need to be purchased by May 5, 2019 and used by the end of September 2019. Although we can’t promise, we believe you will have a great time and be inspired to try cooking new things together at home.
Does anyone in our group have chef/restaurant connections or someone who specializes in some delicious food items? Do you know someone who might want to share their knowledge and skill? Currently, Katie is teaching the groups but it would be so cool to have guest chefs for our Small Groups and maybe family classes?
Not right now but maybe later - Some of you might be interested in Sensory Cooking as it grows and changes and as your schedules change. If you want to be included in our mailing list please go to https://sensorycooking.net/contact/ to sign up so you will get future information.
We are hoping to apply for grants to grow this program and I am amazed how many of the people in the groups are just embracing the knowledge and ideas we are teaching. We love to teach parents and friends too! Although working with kids on the spectrum is important to us, we love the idea of changing how people view food and cooking. We are creating interesting and fun, recipes and classes that can fit anyone!
